  • Ian Batey

    Associate Minister - Families

    Ian oversees the 9am [email protected] Congregation, as well as ministry to young families in general, through prayer, teaching and pastoral care. Ian is passionate about connecting to the Bible's teaching with everyday life, both in his own experience, and in the lives of families at St Matthews.

    Ian and his wife, Ruth have three children in primary and high school, and are enjoying reconnecting with family and friends after serving overseas for several years in the Spanish Anglican Church in Seville. Ian enjoys spending time with Ruth and the kids, good food, coffee, books and movies, sport and a bit of everything really!

  • Chris Donald

    Assistant Minister - Young Adults

    Chris is grateful and excited by the opportunity he has to invest in and serve with the young adults of St Matthews. He oversees the teaching and pastoral care of the young adult’s ministry, with his focus on the 7pm service. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5 that the love of Christ compels him to tell people about Jesus, and this verse describes Chris' experience too. His greatest passion in life is helping others know Jesus, and know him deeply.

    Together, Chris and his wife Emily, love food, sport and exercise (because of all the food), sit-coms, and reading fiction, and Trace, their young son, loves balls, birds and blueberries. 

  • Kenny Liew

    Associate Minister - Asian (SMAC)

    Kenny has the teaching and pastoral oversight of the ministry of St Matthews to our English speaking Asian congregation. This bible-based ministry reaches students, young adults and families. Kenny is passionate about reaching the Hills District with the good news of Jesus Christ.

    Kenny is married to Loretta and they have six children. He enjoys time with his family at Lake Parramatta, catching up with people at church or for coffee, going to garage sales and eating a good curry

  • Clarence Huin

    Assistant Minister - Chinese

    Clarence oversees the teaching, ministry activities and pastoral care of our Chinese Congregation at St Matthews. He has a passion to build believers in Jesus Christ, creating a community that boldly proclaims and lives out the gospel, so that more and more people will come to know Jesus for themselves.

    Clarence loves movies, good food, coffee, going to the gym, reading, and making and fixing things. Clarence is married to Doris and together they have a daughter Nicole and a son Mitchell.

  • Jacki Hellstrom

    Part-time Children’s Ministry

    Jacki co-ordinates St Matthews ministries for children between 0-12 years of age. This includes all Sunday morning programs, after-school clubs for school-aged children, and teaching SRE in the local primary schools. Her passion is sharing Jesus through word and song with the children and their parents, while building meaningful relationships with them.

    Jacki is married to Mick, they have four teenage children and have been members of St Matthews for almost 20 years. She enjoys spending time with family, reading and working in the garden.

  • Pauline Loughhead

    Part-time Pastoral Care - Seniors

    Pauline’s passion is that women should be in a deeper relationship with God through meeting with him as they read his word. She is a part-time pastoral care minister, focussing on women and works three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday). Pauline attends both Wednesday Church and the 8am Sunday morning service.

    Pauline loves spending time with her four married children and eight grandchildren, quilt making, reading, music and beginning each day with a swim.

  • Jie Yeo

    Student Minister

    Jie is currently attending Moore College and working as a student minister at St Matt's. Previously, he completed a two year MTS Apprenticeship with St Matts in 2015 and 2016. This included on-the-job training based within our church that is centered on prayer, Bible study and practical ministry. The essence of MTS is not formal instruction but learning through active participation. Previously working as a physio, Jie is excited to be at St Matt's and teaching the bible so that many will come to know and love Jesus. In his spare time Jie loves to watch and play sport, mainly basketball and the NBA.

  • Briana Barltrop

    Ministry Apprentice

    Bri is excited to spend 2017-2018 as a ministry apprentice at St Matt’s. She is passionate about sharing the life-changing news about Jesus, and seeing people love him more and more. With a background in education, Bri enjoys getting alongside children and youth, and loves to see them grow in Christ. Bri’s apprenticeship involves on-the-job training in various ministries at St Matt’s, as well as some part-time theological study through the Timothy Partnership. In her spare time, Bri enjoys reading, playing music, or going bushwalking, and is always keen for catching up with people over good coffee!

  • Rebecca (BJ) Yap

    Office administration - Communications

    BJ works part-time in our administration team, with a particular focus on publications and communications. She is happily married to Tim and they have two daughters, Isabella and Jessica. She loves spending time with family and friends, and going swimming (when it’s warm enough!!).

  • Kat Butler 

    Office administration - Finances

    Kat works part-time in our administration team, with a particular focus on finances. She is happily married to Dan and loves playing board games with friends or catching up over a good coffee.
