Don & Gwyn's story

Gwyn and I married in 1959 before working as Methodist missionaries in the Aboriginal town of Galiwinku in North East Arnhem Land. Years later in 1985 we moved from Canberra to Sydney where we found our spiritual home at St Matthews. People welcomed us and genuine friendships quickly began to develop. Before long we were involved in a range of activities. St Matthews is a church made up of people from such a wide variety of life experiences and denominational backgrounds, and yet we are one large family, united in Christ.

At St Matts we have enjoyed sound biblical teaching and the opportunity to participate in church life. Nowadays, as members of the older generation, the nature of our participation is changing, but there is always scope for people of all ages to contribute to church life and serve the wider community. Old folk, like us, still have an important role to play as we help and guide the younger generations to love and serve Christ.
