Who we are

St Matt’s Youth is a community of young people seeking to reflect the generosity of Christ in both word and action. We seek to welcome people without prejudice and share the love of Jesus without compromise. If you are a high school aged student we would love you to join us on Friday nights and Sundays and get involved.

When we meet

When our groups meet:

  • We play a number of games.
  • We have fun.
  • We hear a great short talk or study from the Bible.
  • We get to ask questions in discussion groups.
  • We eat supper together.
  • Sometimes we sing together.
  • We pray for one another and for our world.
  • We learn what it means to follow Jesus and live for him.

Everyone is welcome and no-one is pressured to do anything they’re not comfortable with.

Meet the team

    Chris Donald

Chris is grateful and excited by the opportunity he has to invest in and serve with the young adults of St Matthews. He oversees the teaching and pastoral care of the young adult’s ministry, with his focus on the 6pm service. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5 that the love of Christ compels him to tell people about Jesus, and this verse describes Chris' experience too. His greatest passion in life is helping others know Jesus, and know him deeply. Together, Chris and his wife Emily, love food, sport and exercise (because of all the food), sit-coms, and reading fiction, and Trace, their young son, loves balls, birds and blueberries.

    Briana Barltrop

Bri is excited to spend 2017-2018 as a ministry apprentice at St Matt’s. She is passionate about sharing the life-changing news about Jesus, and seeing people love him more and more. With a background in education, Bri enjoys getting alongside children and youth, and loves to see them grow in Christ. Bri’s apprenticeship involves on-the-job training in various ministries at St Matt’s, as well as some part-time theological study through the Timothy Partnership. In her spare time, Bri enjoys reading, playing music, or going bushwalking, and is always keen for catching up with people over good coffee!

    Jason Todd

Jason is currently studying at Sydney Missionary and Bible College and is working as a student minister at St Matt's. His roles at St Matt's include co-leading the Youth Ministry, leading 9am Kids Church as well as leading and preaching across Sunday services. Jason is excited to share the good news of Jesus and see Him working at St Matt's. Jason enjoys spending time with people, playing music and watching a good movie. Jason is newly married to Nicole and is looking forward to married life together.
