6pm Youth/ Young Adults
From February 2018, the evening service begins at 6pm.
Each Sunday at 6pm, our young adult community and senior youth enthusiastically gather to hear from the Bible and how God’s authoritative word speaks into our lives. We spend time thanking God for all his gifts, and praying for ourselves, our community, missionaries and God’s world. We sing dynamic contemporary songs and regularly hear from people in our congregation about what God has been doing in their lives.
We also really value the fellowship of sharing the Lord’s Supper (also called Holy Communion) together on the first Sunday of each month. A time when those of us who have put our trust in Jesus and are seeking to follow his teaching, share in the bread and grape juice and remember Jesus’ saving work for us in his life, death and resurrection.
Relationships are so important to us so we encourage everyone to hang around after the service and enjoy a casual supper at church. It's a great time to chat, get to know each other better and gain a sense of belonging.
Chris is grateful and excited by the opportunity he has to invest in and serve with the young adults of St Matthews. He oversees the teaching and pastoral care of the young adult’s ministry, with his focus on the 6pm service. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5 that the love of Christ compels him to tell people about Jesus, and this verse describes Chris' experience too. His greatest passion in life is helping others know Jesus, and know him deeply.
