Young Adults
Welcome to the St Matt's Young Adults ministry (YA for short). We are a collection of tertiary students, young workers, and others in this age bracket who love to share in the excitement, complications, fun and big decisions of young adulthood together.
We also share in a common purpose: to reflect the generosity of Christ in and to our community. Whether it's through groceries for refugees, social events, sincere worship, or just enjoying each other’s company, we hope that in our actions and relationships people get a taste of the generous love of Jesus. We look to Jesus as the saviour, model and guide for our lives, and we want to help other people encounter him too.
No matter where you're at with Jesus, you are always welcome to spend time with us, learning, serving or just hanging out. If you've got questions or you'd like an initial contact, you can email our YA minister, Chris Donald.
Weekly Services
Our young adults are welcome at all services at St Matt's, but we particularly meet at the 6pm service.
Weekly Community Groups
We meet in smaller groups (of 10-15) each week, to share our lives and grow in our relationships with Jesus and each other. When we meet we read the Bible, pray, and hang out together.
Once a Year: Summer Exodus
In February each year our young adult community goes away together for a weekend. This is a time to open up the Bible and look at issues particularly relevant to the young adult age group such as uni students and young workers. It is also a great time to chill out with friends and also to connect with new members of our young adult community.
Throughout the year: YA Social Events
We love to put on events and activities for us to spend time together and so that others can come and join in on the community. We run trivia, jazz, and outdoor movie nights as well as other social engagements. These are not just for the young adults of St Matt’s but for any young adult in the wider community who wants to meet people and have fun. (For upcoming social events contact Chris.)
